Tirana International Contemporary Dance Festival

Under the leadership of Tim Newman (D18 Paris) and Ajola Xoxa (Harabel), the first International Contemporary Dance Festival took place in Tirana from October 28th to November 4th, 2022, under the artistic direction of Albanian-born choreographer Angelin Preljocaj.

With its success, the third edition will be held from September 20th to October 13th, 2024, featuring top international dance companies.

D18 Paris, the Center for Art and Culture Harabel, Balkan Youth Link Albania, in collaboration with the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, are pleased to announce the highly anticipated second edition of the International Contemporary Dance Festival, which will take place from September 23rd to October 22nd in the vibrant city of Tirana. The festival’s opening will feature the choreography “Gravity” by Angelin Preljocaj on September 27th at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana.

Under the artistic direction of renowned choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, the festival aims to establish Tirana as a center of excellence for the gathering of international contemporary dance, creating a platform for acclaimed dance companies and talented dancers. With a vision to create an inclusive experience, this year’s festival goes beyond captivating performances to include a series of dynamic seminars, public engagements, and a parallel program of artistic events.

With programming entrusted to Nicole Saïd and Ajola Xoxë, this dynamic and culturally rich event will showcase performances by renowned dance companies from around the world at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The festival promises exceptional training in choreography and artistic expressions by acclaimed companies such as Ballet Preljocaj, La Veronal & Marcus Morau, Blenard Azizaj, and Fondazione Nazionale de la Danza/Aterballetto.

 

This festival not only celebrates the diversity and innovation of contemporary dance but also encourages cultural exchange and artistic growth within the Balkans region. With a diverse lineup of captivating performances, engaging workshops, contemporary art events, and special gatherings, this annual project aims to provide young artists with a unique opportunity to learn from renowned professionals.

FESTIVAL DE CULTURES URBAINES À ROUBAIX

From June 15th to June 26th, 2022, the city of Roubaix was immersed in the rhythm of URBX, the Festival of Urban Cultures initiated by the city of Roubaix and D18 Paris. As part of the festival, the Culturebox program set up on the Grand’Place of Roubaix in front of more than 7,000 people on Thursday, June 23rd at 9:00 PM, for a grand and free evening open to all. The production and programming of this event were provided by D18 Paris.
